Choppers By Mike Seate
In 1969 Peter Fonda roared across drive-in movie screens around the world aboard the quintessential American motorcycle-a chopper- and blew the minds of an entire generation. But Fonda's "Captain America" represented a motorcycle genre nearly as old as teh sport of motorcycling itself.
American-style choppers defined the hippie era, but like bell-bottom trousers, platform shoes, and free love, choppers practically vanished by the end of the Reagan era. Now, thanks to dynamic young builders like Jesse James, Indian Larry, Chopper Dave, and Billy Lane, the chopper is back-longer, lower, and meaner than ever.
