Your John Deere Electronic Seed Monitor or Electronic Population Monitor removes the guesswork and doubt from your planting operation by showing you when seed is going into the ground. The regular electronic seed monitor is designed for use with most John Deere 4-. 6-, or 8-row plateless or drill plate planters. The calibrated dial, dual-rate electronic seed monitors and the electronic population monitors may be used with 4-. 6-. 8- or 12-row planters. The monitoring system consists of a control console, a wiring harness, and a sensor in each planting unit shank. The electronic population monitor also includes a distance measuring wheel with an electronic pickup for automatic calculation and display of corn plant population and acres planted.
On all monitors, both an audible and visual signal tell the operator of the malfunction. Each row is wired to an individual indicator lamp on the console and an alarm sounds when any of the indicator lights come on. The John Deere Electronic Seed Monitors and Electronic Population Monitors are rate sensitive. That is, they can detect changes as well as complete stoppage of the seed flow. The photocell installed in each shank, coupled with the console, senses if the planter has a clogged shank, if no seeds are going through the shank, or if the seed flow is slowed. Indicator lamps may be easily replaced from the front of the console. The console is mounted on swivel brackets so the operator may shade the lamps as desired.
This manual will help you troubleshoot and remedy common problems such as:
Console operates intermittently or row indicator lamps appear dim.
One lamp glows.
Lamps glow for half of planter’s units.
All lamps glow.
Lamps glow intermittently.
